a teen dies in car accidents every 12 minutes
It is a tragedy that each and every day 136 teens are killed in car accidents. That is 5 per hours or one each 12 minutes. Besides the enormous loss of life this devastates families and lives of thousands more who are disabled and otherwise injured. This is not a normal positive blog of course but the enormity of this situation just came to me as I saw the report on Fox News last week.
Another tragedy is that probably 95% of these teens did not take the opportunity to say anything to a sibling or parent or friend about how they felt about them that day. Accidents just happen and no one prepares. But this is another example of how important it is for a parent to tell a child that they love them and at least give them a hug each day. Maybe not realistic in everyone's mind but it is something everyone should work on each day.
No one knows what today or tomorrow brings. Tomorrow never arrives and today is a gift from God of yet another day so we need to understand that we are on this earth for a set period of time that we are aware of and we should live each day as our last and when we wake up tomorrow is today and another gift.
Many of the teens who die each day in traffic accidents do so will intoxicated. This is a moral issue to some but regardless whether it is a moral issue or not driving intoxicated kills and takes the future away for 5 teens per hour and if there is anyway to keep anyone from drinking and driving we need to come up with it.
