Proverbs 22:6
Proverbs 22:6 says, " train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depard from it."
The oppostie is also true. If a child has no training in the right and wrong things of life, once they are adults it is hard to direct them in the direction of good vs bad. I do think though that almost everyone, regardless of their up bringing know right from wrong.
Too many people blame their enviroment for their actions. A bad experiecne as a child, low income, living in an old house in a poor neighborhood, etc and etc. The fact is that everyone has so many ways to interact with society thru cell phones, TV, movies, news and the like that almost no one can say they are unaware of things going on in society and because they were deprived should be exempt from knowing what is good or bad. It is a cop out and we as a society need to take this action to task.
We need to also hold more adults who are parents and grandparents accountable for lack of action. A 14 year old killed on the streets at 3am is a loss that the parents should have some blame in. I have heard many on the TV news say something to the effect that their child had a mind of their own and they could not control them. In some cases maybe there are circumstance but in all cases someone raised the child from birth and directed the child.
This discussion can go on and on but the bottom line is that parents are responsible for the actions of their children directly in most cases and also indirectly. Letting parents and grandparents and other family members off the hook by them saying they could do nothing should not be acceptable.

Sadness in San Antonio
It was a sad day in San Antonio yesterday as two young children were found wrapped in a duffle bag under a house. Their ages were 19 mos and 5 months. The mother was a 19 year old who had had two other children a couple of years ago taken from her by Child Protective Services. Her first child was born when the Mtoher was 13. CPS said they did not know she had these two new children.
Police are looking for the woman and her boyfriend who is 21. Each of the children have different fathers according to reports.
San Antonio has the most teen pregnancies in the US. This is a sad commentary on society and the community. Any community that does not recoginze its responsibility when year after year after year the reports all show the highest teen pregnancy in the US should be ashamed of its dubious honor and take all action possible to work with young women and men and the families to make sure that life is treated more respectfully.
Having children at a young age is not the worst possible thing that can happen. Having no regard for the lives of young innocent children and killing them and putting them under a house says more about the problem than just the fact that young girls are having babies. San Antonio and other cities need to face this crisis and work toward stopping kids from having kids. And do something about young kids killing kids just to get them out of the way.

A great story and a great show. I encourage you to listen to it
On today's internet talk show I had Eddie and Chris Canales. Chris became a quadraplegic after a football injury in 2001. The last game of the season. Chris was an all state punter. He had three college football scholarships and all of that ending when he had a spinal cord injury from the tramatic force of a tackle.
Eddie, the father, quit his job to take care of Chris. Now 6 years later they have formed a foundation to not only care for Chris but to do for others also injured. Chris's Mother is a school principal and the only income maker.
Eddie and Chris travel across Texas telling the story. It is a wonderful story. Please go to www.optimisticday.com and then click on the link to the internet talk show. The show is archived. Just click on their show and listen. It will be worth your while.
Eddie and Chris are great examples of people who not only go the extra and become EXTRAORDINARY, they by their life and example add extra to others lives by just being around them. You can also go to www.gridironheroes.org and learn more.
You too can become more than just ordinary. You can be extraordinary in life by doing that extra in all you do.
Go out and have an optimistic day.
And, also, my guest for my 3/14 show at noon CST is Michael Framberger who will discuss his wellness program and his book Get Happy Get Healthy Be Wealthy Its your choice.
